Just Drive privacy policy
Effective 10 October 2026
Just Drive keeps a car logbook for you while you drive. A logbook is a record of where you went, so this policy says plainly what the app uses, where it's kept, and the few things that leave your phone.
The short version
- Just Drive uses your phone's location, including in the background, to log your trips automatically.
- Your trips, odometer photos and logbooks are kept on your phone, and in your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google) if you have backup turned on.
- There's no account and no Just Drive server. We, Glovebox Labs, never receive your trips, your location or your photos.
- A few things do leave your phone, all listed below: addresses looked up for your trips, anonymous diagnostics from the odometer reader, and a record of any Logbook Pass you buy.
- No ads, no tracking across apps, and we don't sell or share your data.
What the app uses on your phone
- Location, including in the background
- To notice when you start driving, record each trip's route, distance and times, and keep logging when the app is closed. Without it there's no automatic logbook.
- Stays on your phone, except the trip ends sent for an address (see below).
- Physical activity (Android) or Motion & Fitness (iPhone)
- To tell driving from walking and save battery.
- Stays on your phone.
- Camera
- To photograph your odometer as proof of your kilometres. The number is read on your phone.
- Stays on your phone.
- Notifications
- Reminders: trips to sort, the weekly odometer photo, when your 12 weeks are done, and if tracking stops. They're created on your phone.
- Stays on your phone.
You can turn automatic logging off in Settings. Then location is only used while a trip you started yourself is running.
What leaves your phone
- Addresses for your trips. When a trip ends, the coordinates of where it started and ended are sent to your phone's built-in map service to look up a street address: Apple on iPhone, Google on Android. Their privacy policies cover that lookup. We don't receive the coordinates or the address.
- Diagnostics from the odometer reader. Reading the odometer uses Google's ML Kit, which works on your phone. ML Kit sends Google anonymous diagnostics: the device model and system version, the app's name and version, an identifier for this installation (not for you), and performance figures such as how long a reading took. It doesn't send your photos, the numbers it reads, your trips or your location. See Google's ML Kit data disclosure.
- Logbook Pass purchases. If you buy a Logbook Pass, the App Store or Google Play handles the payment. Our purchases provider, RevenueCat, records the purchase against an anonymous ID created by the app (not your name or email) so your pass can be found again. We can see that a pass was bought, not who bought it.
- When you send your logbook. Only when you tap "Send to my accountant" or "Save PDF", the PDF and spreadsheet go where you choose: your email app, Files, or another app. After that, the person or app you sent them to looks after them.
What we don't do
- No account, sign-in or email address needed.
- No advertising, no analytics of our own, and no tracking you across other apps or websites.
- We don't sell, rent or share your data.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your logbook stays on your phone until you delete it. Deleting the app deletes everything on the phone; copies in your iCloud or Google backup are deleted through your phone's backup settings. To have a Logbook Pass purchase record removed from RevenueCat, email us (below).
Children
Just Drive is for drivers keeping a tax logbook and isn't directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change means more data leaves your phone, the app will tell you first.
